Our May employee of the month is CNA, Brandy Johnson! Brandy was born and raised in St. Louis City. Brandy attended school at Parkway South. Brandy has a daughter, Shelbe, who is 7 and she enjoys spending time with. Brandy shared her daughter and her enjoy going to the trampoline park and to the movies. Brandy has worked at Garden View for almost 2 years now! Brandy said her favorite part about working at Garden View is because of the residents, of course! Brandy was very passionate in sharing that the residents bring her so much joy and raise her spirits. Brandy said that the residents are her reason for being here every day and she loves them. We greatly appreciate all of Brandy’s hard work here at Garden View and can’t thank her enough for what she does!

Patty was born and raised in South St. Louis. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1981 and had her daughter, Carrie, shortly after. She then worked various jobs such as in fast food restaurants and retail. In 1993, she went to work in housekeeping and laundry at a long term care facility. It was there that she found her true calling helping people and got certified as a nurse assistant in 1995. Patty has worked for at Garden View in the nursing department for almost 18 years. In her free time, she enjoys toying with her fish tank and spending time with family. Patty is dependable and always has the residents’ best interests at heart.

CMT Lisa Webb is from the St. Louis area. In her free time, Lisa enjoys watching football and the St. Louis Cardinals. Lisa also has a black lab at home, named Pepper, who she enjoys spending time with. Lisa also cannot wait for the summertime because she enjoys soaking up the sun! Lisa said that her favorite part about working at Garden View is the friendly staff and how well they work together as a team, as well as being with the residents. When describing Garden View, Lisa said: “it is heaven!”.

Our Employee of the Month for March is Terry Zahn. Terry grew up in Valley Park, graduating from Valley Park High School in 1973. She began working downtown at Cahokia Flower Company after high school. She has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Terry has worked at Garden View in the Dietary Department for 11 years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and going to the casino. Terry is very hardworking, dependable and an excellent cook.

Spotlight on Sanda Grigore

For those that do not know Activity Therapist Sanda Grigore she has an amazing background. Sanda is originally from Romania where she worked as a Registered Nurse and then became a midwife before coming to the St. Louis area. Sanda married her husband while in Romania, who she has now been with for 40 years, and together they have two daughters. One daughter is a teacher and one is a labor/delivery nurse at Mercy. Sanda now has two grandchildren who she loves spending time with as well. A fun fact about Sanda is that she can speak 6 different languages! Sanda always impresses us with her skills and how amazing she is with the residents. Many of us especially adore her cooking on Monday mornings. You can even find a video of Sanda on the Garden View website showing you what her cooking class is all about. Sanda shared her favorite part about working at Garden View are the residents and that she is very attached to them, as well as loves them greatly. Here at Garden View we are all very thankful for Sanda and all of her hard work to keep the residents happy.

Linda has worked at Garden View for almost 27 years now! Linda graduated from Northwest High School and recently celebrated her 40th class reunion. Linda has been married for 42 years and has two sons. Linda also has three step grandchildren that are ages 7,9 and 10. Linda shared that in her free time she enjoys shopping. Linda’s favorite part about working at Garden View is getting close to the residents. This shows by how much the residents enjoy being with Linda. Linda also shared that while working at GVCC she was chosen to attend an event for CMT of the year in 93’. We truly appreciate Linda going out of her way for the residents and taking great care of them.

Spotlight on Rhita Allman

Rhita was born and raised in Bernie, a small town in Southeast Missouri. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a major in Social Studies and later went back to School earning hours in Computer Science Technology. Rhita has a unique background in Education and Telecommunications. She taught for a few years, was a Student Advisor and retired from Verizon as a Specialist on the Data Networks. She then moved back to Missouri to be closer to her son. She began working at Garden View Care Center as a receptionist six years ago and found that her joy is in interacting with the Residents and talking to them about their fascinating backgrounds. Rhita sees her position as a Ministry. She loves to be with her Prayer Group, the JOYS (Just Older Youths), going to events and on trips with them. She enjoys movies and being with her son and family. Rhita is very dependable, loyal and a valuable part of our team.
