Spotlight on Thomas Gaska Jr.

Thomas was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Bishop Dubuorg High School in 2010. After graduation, he attended Forest Park Community College where he received his Associates Degree in Human Services in 2014. He then went on to University of Missouri St. Louis where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Social work in 2018. Tom then began his career at Garden View in our activities department. In his free time, Tom enjoys watching movies, hanging out with friends and reading books. Tom is a major asset to our company and is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure our residents have a great quality of life.

Selina was born and raised in Bangladesh. She married her husband Kamal in 2000 and moved to the United States in 2005. Selina and Kamal have 2 children, both girls. Selina was a stay at home mom while her children were very young. She decided to return to the workforce and worked various positions at Café Lazzez over a 4 year period. She left that job and has worked for 3 years at Garden View in our dietary department. Selina states that she enjoys spending time with her children during her free time from work. Selina is always prepared to help out our residents in any way she can.

Spotlight on Chef Tony Johnson!

Tony has been our Dietary Manager for a year now here at Garden View. Tony is originally from Flint, Michigan. Tony moved to St. Louis and received his CDM at Fontbonne. When not at work, Tony enjoys coaching 3rd grade basketball and working with the kitchen ministry at his church.

Tony shared that he believes the employee of the month was due to the Dietary Department as a whole. However, Tony does an outstanding job ensuring the residents are provided with delicious food, his staff is taken care of and greeting everyone with a smile! We are more than thankful for Tony and all that he does here at Garden View!

Laura is from and currently lives in Illinois. Laura has worked at Garden View for almost 21 years now! Laura shared that her favorite part about working at Garden View is interacting with the residents and cooking. Laura shared that her favorite meal to cook is Fried Chicken. In her free time, she shared she enjoys watching Lifetime, shopping (including grocery shopping), and hanging out with friends.  We appreciate everything Laura does and for caring so much about others and we love her fried chicken!!

Spotlight on Michelle

Michelle grew up in North St. Louis. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1988. After high school she took care of her son and held various welding jobs. She also managed 7-11 gas stations. In 2000, she made a career change. She became a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and began working in long term care facilities. She then wanted to further her career and in 2014 got her Medication Technician certification (CMT). Michelle began working for Garden View as a CMT in June 2018. She is currently a student at Jefferson College in their Registered Nursing program. Michelle shows that she cares deeply for our residents and is a huge asset to our nursing department. We love you, Michelle!

Meet housekeeper, Lee! Many of you have probably seen Lee with a smile on his face making Garden View spotless. Lee is from the St. Louis area, born and raised. In his free time, Lee enjoys watching movies, playing playstation 4, spending time with his dog that is a German Rottweiler, and also spending time with his grandma. Lee’s favorite part about working at Garden View is interacting with the residents. We appreciate everything Lee does and for going above and beyond in his work!

Spotlight on Bob

Bob grew up in Fairmont City, Illinois. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1974. After graduation, he began working at Car Quest Auto parts in St. Louis. He completed some courses at SIUE Edwardsville and Lindenwood University. Bob met his wife Jean on a blind date and they married in 1978. They had 3 children together and now have 2 grandchildren. In 1994, Bob began entertaining part time on evenings and weekends at the Casino Queen. In 2011, Bob retired from Car Quest after 37 years. He began entertaining retirement homes and skilled nursing facilities. Bob selflessly does whatever it takes to ensure our residents our always having fun and he is a wonderful singer.
